ln our last blog, we had the opportunity to dive into our partnership with ACS Clothing. Now, let’s review another company that has also completed two KTP projects with the University of the West of Scotland: Consult Lift Services based in Paisley, Renfrewshire.
Consult Lift Services Ltd (CLS) is the leading supplier of lift and escalator solutions to businesses and organisations throughout Scotland. The business specialises in lift installation, refurbishment, maintenance and repair. CLS’s first strategic KTP partnership started in 2020, working with the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences on project focused on new product development. The business quickly followed up with a Management KTP (mKTP) with our School of Business and Creative Industries, focusing on embedding leadership and management skills alongside modern business systems and processes to transform the business digitally; improving operational efficiency and driving business growth.
“KTP is a great scheme for all businesses as it allows a dedicated highly skilled team to help with your vision whilst allowing you to maintain focus on your day-to-day operations. The changes brought about by the KTPs have been more than we have experienced in the past 20 years” – Philip Reilly, CLS.
As a result of their KTP journey, the company has seen a 26% uplift in business productivity, achieved via a combination of:
- Digitised, automated and streamlined business processes across all areas of the business from service delivery to finance/admin and sales
- Improved management reporting and business insight through use of advanced business intelligence tools
CLS’s environmental footprint has also been reduced, using data insight to optimise route planning and service scheduling, saving over 3000-mls, 120hrs and 800kg CO2 emissions per month. In terms of organisational and culture change, there has been a renewed focus on staff engagement, workforce development and training as well as outreach activity:
- 15 employees underwent qualification training, and 14 employees participated in CPD
- 5 apprentices and 1 school placement
- Engaged with 13 schools & universities and influencing over 1000+ young people
Consult Lift Services won the Transformational Change Award at the CeeD Awards 2023, held at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel in March earlier this year. Later that month, the mKTP Associate Shu Yang received a Highly Commended certificate at the Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards after being shortlisted in the Innovator of the Future category at the Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards 2023. This is the first time the Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards have ever presented this commendation.
